"I’m truly passionate about investing in the nurses of the future".
I’m Allie, I started my career within Diaverum in 2014 as a staff nurse.
I’d been qualified 2 years and was full of enthusiasm for a new journey with a new employer. After an unsteady start in my nursing career I felt I’d finally found my place.
After many different roles in different clinics and two children later, I started the Practice Development Nurse role in August 2022.
I have been welcomed with open arms into the clinical team and I am totally inspired by my new colleagues. We are a work family, we check up on each other, make sure each other get home safe after travelling and can ask each other anything – no question is a stupid one! This is a culture that spreads throughout the clinics. I’m proud of what we achieve and excited by the vision we have for the future. With so many projects to get stuck into the future is bright and my brain is always ticking. My focus within the team is providing support and development opportunities to our staff. I believe valued, empowered, knowledgeable staff are happy staff. Happy staff means happy patients.
I’m truly passionate about investing in the nurses of the future.
When I qualified as a registered nurse I had no idea what I wanted to do and was very unsettled, it was a rocky start to a career I’d worked really hard for.
I applied for a dialysis nurse job with no idea what the inside of a dialysis unit looked like, what had I got to lose? I loved it from day one!
Why had I never experienced this area of nursing as a student? In the UK, nursing students are rarely exposed to the dialysis setting and this is something I’d like to change.
I’m currently in the process of setting up all Diaverum UK clinics as Practice Placement areas for Student Nurses in partnership with multiple universities up and down the country. The aim is to give student nurses exposure to the renal setting by providing them an excellent placement full of learning opportunities so they can see first-hand that renal is a fantastic speciality with exciting career pathways.
While on placement they will see that Diaverum is a great place to work as a newly qualified nurse and hopefully join the Diaverum family. Because at Diaverum UK, not only will their clinical skills and development be a priority but also their wellbeing and personal goals.
